Tomboy Plugin development
One of the most annoying tasks for me in the process of creating my own Tomboy plugin has been the compilation process. Since the open source applications come with their source code (and some people still build their applications from source) and since the differences in libraries, platforms and whatnot make it real hard to build a project on every platform (be it C, C++ or even C# code), a tool called automake/autotools/autoconf was created (more information here) . The idea in itself would be brilliant if it wasn't for the overwhelming complexity of this tool. This page might make it easier for you : http://inti.sourceforge.net/tutorial/libinti/autotoolsproject.html
